Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), depression experienced in relation to the seasons, can be treated using acupuncture and Chinese medicine, including Chinese herbs.

Patients experiencing SAD notice a change in their energy and mood specifically during a certain time of year, most commonly in the Fall and Winter.

Common symptoms of SAD include:

  • Depression
  • Apathy
  • Fatigue
  • Change in appetite
  • Change in sleeping patterns
  • Lack of mental focus

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine may not cure or prevent SAD from happening, but can be used as tools to decrease the severity of symptoms.
