Mayan Abdominal Massage (MAM) is a form of massage used to enhance fertility in both men and women. The Arvigo practice of abdominal massage is founded on ancient Mayan techniques. MAM is an external, non-invasive repositioning of internal organs that have shifted, thereby restricting the flow of blood, lymph, nerves and qi. Abdominal massage has been practiced for ceMAM for fertility focuses on the position of the uterus. Eighty percent of women have a displaced uterus. Many Western doctors don’t consider uterine displacement as problematic or symptomatic. Many consider a displaced uterus “normal” because it is so common. However, it can interrupt hormonal functions creating blockages that interfere with uterine functions leading to infertility, frequent miscarriages, painful periods, endometriosis, cysts and fibroids. The lymphatic system may also become congested, prohibiting proper waste removal. If a pregnancy does occur, many of these women undergo long painful labors, late deliveries and are often forced to have c-sections.

Men too, can benefit from Mayan Abdominal Massage. MAM supports prostate and sperm health, and can often treat erectile dysfunction.

A scientific study of this form of bodywork would require removing variables, which contradicts the very essence of indigenous medicine. Therefore, no formal studies have been documented, although the Arvigo Institute does collect data and case studies. What we do know is anecdotal, that patients and practitioners alike have noticed remarkable results from MAM especially in women’s health, fertility and pregnancy support.

Undergoing three months of Mayan Abdominal Massage would be ideal for any woman preparing to conceive. Emptying, positioning and connecting with your uterus prior to pregnancy can create a healthy environment for a baby and a more problem free pregnancy.
